Dogs on Skateboards

It’s hard to resist a pet, let alone a puppy on a skateboard! Lately, there’s been a variety of dogs, kittens, birds and even a tiny turtle going viral online as they embrace skateboarding. A perfect hit of dopamine for any skater. But this isn’t a contemporary phenomenon.

Jenny Goodman, age 10, received some attention in the Toronto Star newspaper in 1976 after being spotted by photographer, Ron Bull cruising around on her skateboard with 9-month-old cocker spaniel, Blaze.

Blaze was more of a passive companion compared to Laddie the skating dog. Laddie was taught by Nancy Allan of San Diego, age 12 how to hop on a skateboard “and ride for quite a distance” according to the Los Angeles Times, from August 1964.

And finally, even though this pup isn’t on a skateboard, “Charlie Brown” is still having a blast in the street alongside Sue Crowther (14), Lynne Tait (13) and Scott Saunders (12). The photo was taken by Jeff Goode in May 1976 for the Toronto Star.

I love stumbling upon old photos of these cool kids, having a blast on their skateboards.
